The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (commonly referred to as the WIC Program) provides nutrition education and counseling, nutritious foods to supplement the diet, breast feeding promotion and support, and referrals to other resources and agencies. This program promotes health eating and lifestyle practices to improve health outcomes for pregnant women, new mothers, and young children.

The following individuals qualify for participating in the WIC Program:
- Pregnant and breast feeding women
- Women who just had a baby
- Children age five years or younger
In order to participate, these individuals must meet the income guidelines and must have a nutrition risk. Individuals receiving Medicaid, the Family Employment Program (TANF), or Food Stamps (SNAP) already meet the income eligibility requirements for WIC.
