Immunization Requirements

In order to attend 7th grade in the Tooele County School  District, a student must have proof of receiving the following immunizations:


Immunization Requirements   3 Hepatitis B
Immunization Requirements  1 TDAP (Tetanus/Diptheria/Pertussis)Immunization
Immunization Requirements  1 Varicella (Chickenpox)

        -Previous history of chickenpox is OK:
         parent must sign verification statement on
         school immunization record

         -If student is already 13 years old, 2 doses are required

This is in addition to their immunizations which should have already been completed (i.e. MMR, polio).

New adolescent Td/Pertussis (Tdap) vaccines can be given to satisfy the Td requirement.

 

Because of the high incidence of Hepatitis A in Tooele County (as well as the rest of the state) the Hepatitis A Series will be required for all children before they can register for Kindergarten. The Hep A series includes 2 shots, the second one given 6 months after the first.

 
The Chickenpox vaccination will also be required. Parents who do not immunize their children against this disease are, in essence, exposing them to the "wild-style" form of the disease. This wild style form of the disease can form as many as 500 up to 1,000 "pox" sores which can blister and shed the virus. The virus is also expelled from the nose and mouth of the infected child (or adult).
