Family
Planning gives a couple the advantage of choosing their family size
and spacing their children. If a couple desires a smaller family,
family planning gives them the opportunity to do so. It also increases
the health of the mother and the children.

Nationwide Family Planning Programs are administered through the
Office of Family Planning, Department of Human Services. The project
is funded by the Federal Government in the amount of $265 million
annually.

Studies have shown that Family Planning
Programs across the United States have helped prevent 1.3 million
unintended pregnancies annually. Contraceptive counseling and services
play an important role in encouraging intended pregnancies.
