Case Investigation

Emergencies, epidemics, and natural disasters cannot always be prevented. The impact from such disasters can, however, be limited.  Lives and property can be saved through an effective and timely response by well trained professionals and volunteers.

Included in the Tooele County Emergency Prepardness plan is a strong public health network to gather and analyze information in a  quick manner to determine what has happened, and what the emergency is.

If unprepared, the Tooele County Health Department, first responders, and their partners would be unable to care for the mass casualties in a timely manner.  Emergency Preparedness is a top priority for the health department and its partners.

Tooele County Health Department's Medical and Public Health Surge Outcomes include:

	the abilty for trained personnel to quickly determine what has happened (the biological release of a terrorist agent, for example)
	to strenghten, at the local level, the ability to quickly deliver medical intervention
	the ability to receive pharmaceuticals from the Strategic National Stockpile (SNS) formerly called the National  Pharmaceutical Stockpile (NPS) quickly, if necessary.
