| Tooele County Health Educators provide disease and injury prevention activities in Tooele County. Health Education activities take place in a variety of settings
including:

speaking engagements
one-on-one counseling
programs in the local schools and community
Tooele County Health Educators wear many hats including training, community organizers, and health program managers. A healthy community is vital, so weight management programs are a primary objective. Between the years 1990 - 2008, the national obesity numbers have grown from 5,000 to 55,000. Obesity is a high risk factor for heart disease. The Gold Medal School Initiative was born from the 2002 Winter Olympics. Many elementary schools here in the Tooele County School District are participating in this exciting program. The program's focus is healthy eating, physical activity and smoking/chewing prevention.
